Somerset Music offers instrumental and vocal tuition in schools for whole classes (Whole Class Ensemble Tuition – WCET) and individual and small group tuition. We offer a range of instruments and instruments are provided for whole class lessons and for for individual and small group tuition where applicable.

Somerset Music manages four county groups offering a range of performance opportunities for children and young people in the county.
These are:
- Somerset Youth Concert Band
- Somerset Youth Orchestra
- Somerset Youth Singers
- Somerset Youth Ukulele Band

Each Music Hub across the country has written a Singing strategy to enable the guidance published in the National Plan for Music to be implemented. Somerset Music are delighted to be the Lead Partner for the Singing Strategy for Somerset, on behalf of Sound Foundation Somerset, the Music Hub for the county. We will be working in partnership with Jackdaws to organise and coordinate the implementation of the Singing Strategy as decided by Sound Foundation Somerset.

Somerset Music offers low cost instrument hire to children and young people across Somerset. Subsidised rates are available to those in maintained schools and academies across the county and additional subsidies are available to children and young people who are entitled to free school meals and/or children looked after.

Somerset Music organises various INSET and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) throughout the school year. Annual events include a Primary Music Conference and the S4S Secondary Schools Common INSET day. Each event offers the opportunity to develop teaching skills, attend workshops and network with colleagues.
Somerset Music is able to offer bespoke training & CPD to suit schools individual needs.
We also provide Singing CPD through our delivery of the county Singing Strategy. Please contact somersetmusic@somerset.gov.uk for further information.
