The A-Star Sound Tubes are vibrant, tuned percussion tubes that resonate when struck against any hard, flat surface. Extremely fun and simple to use, the Sound Tubes are perfect for playing melodies and creating musical games. Group play with the tubes is an excellent way to foster teamwork and learn ensemble skills while having a great time, making them a favourite in educational settings.
The set includes eight notes from C to c on the C Major diatonic scale (corresponding to the white keys on a piano). For the loudest sound, strike the floor with the entire length of the tube. Experimenting with dynamics and timbre is easy and fun by altering the surface against which the tubes are struck and the force used. Plus, they’re nearly indestructible!
Colour-coded for each pitch with notes clearly visible on each tube, the colours follow the coloured system used across other A-Star instruments.

For Year 4 and above – 1-2-3 Ocarina is for musical beginners of any age, solo or in groups, and it teaches: the first 10 ocarina notes, to play the notes by reading music & to read the rhythms of the notes
For Year 4 and above – Music Code-Cracker starts simply with easy-to-play songs on just a few notes, and familiar tunes that are instantly recognisable. Happy Birthday, The Wheels on the Bus and the theme from Beethoven’s 5th Symphony are just three pieces to play, each with a surprising twist: What do Beethoven and Morse code have in common? What happens when we change a familiar tune into a minor key? How does sound communicate?
For Year 4 and above – Music Music Maker inspires anyone, from child to adult, to create their own music. It’s a Book full of harmony, melody and rhythm, plus CD packed with different styles of music to play along with. This is the most adventurous of the Adventurous Music-Making series. Read music written forwards, backwards and upside down, displayed around the page or in ever decreasing spirals! Play everything from Pachelbel’s Canon to blues and Rock & Roll, and learn the secrets of making up your own tunes as well.
For Year 4 and above – Music World-Explorer. Fly around the world to discover islands, mountains and cities where music plays a vital part in everyday life. Play Ocarinas, reading from fingercharts and from music, and join in with other instruments. The backings are vibrant, carrying the sights and sounds of each new place as you visit them. The words to the songs will open your mind to understand, appreciate and enjoy the people and culture you meet on your way.
For Year 4 and above – Music Time-Traveller. Climb into this time capsule to travel through 42,050 years of musical history. Each song is brought to life with authentic instrumentation, full and expressive backings. The illustrations help you picture the instruments and players at each era. Accurately dated, some of these these tunes are amongst the most ancient to have survived. David and Christa Liggins have turned the tunes into songs with words that give meaning and help you “feel” the music as well as understand the times in which they were set.
