ESTA String teachers Day 29th March

Join ESTA for a relaxed and energising day of music, ideas and connection with fellow string teachers in the South West.

These ESTA Gatherings are all about bringing people together — especially those of us working in rural areas — to share what they do, learn from one another, and feel part of a wider teaching community. There’s no hierarchy and no pressure: just good teaching, open conversation, and plenty of practical takeaways.

The day begins with a morning masterclass led by cellist Harriet Wiltshire, offering the chance to observe expert teaching in action and reflect on our own approaches. If you have a cello student who would benefit from performing in the masterclass, please do get in touch — we would love to hear from you. In the afternoon, we’ll turn our focus to the realities of teaching beginner string players in groups — exploring ideas that are practical, adaptable, and immediately useful. There’ll also be our now much-loved “Quick-Fire Teaching Tips” session, where everyone is invited to share something that works in their own teaching. Alongside all of this, there’s time to talk, exchange ideas, and reconnect with why we do what we do — with tea, coffee and cake to keep us going.

Whether you come for inspiration, practical strategies, or simply to feel less isolated, we hope you’ll leave with renewed energy and a sense of being part of something growing.

The day is open to ESTA members (Free) and non-members (£10 – but this can be put against a year’s new membership). The link to register is here. https://www.estastrings.org.uk/product/esta-uk-south-west-gathering/
